Pictures of the Fires

This one is looking south from near my office in Calimesa - the fire is the Witch Fire in San Diego County, at least 70 miles away. That's the one that's caused my little sister to be evacuated from her home in Encinitas. So far half a million people in San Diego County have evacuated.

This is looking north from the same spot near my office, at the Slide Fire in Running Springs/Green Valley Lake. It is now making us nervous, as the last time a fire came down from Running Springs we had to evacuate because it threatened to cut off the highway that leads to our little town.

I think I'd be a little nervous too. I've never had to deal with this kind of disaster. I grew up in a tornado belt but I think I'd be a lot more frightened by the fires. I hope your sister's place is not touched.

Boy - our pacific northwest rain looks better all the time. It is so scary. A dear friend's parents have been evacuated and still don't know if their house is even standing. Yikes. You are all in our thoughts and prayers.

Hoping things are OK with you.

Our news says that the winds are dropping - let's hope so, and that the fires come under control soon. Fingers crossed you do't have to evacuate!
