A weekend in the sewing room

We came back from our trip on Friday, and I couldn't wait to get back into my sewing room. I had several different blocks to work on, as well as a quilt top for possible inclusion in a book being written by a member of my guild.

Star of Mystery - Solstice Stars series

Two Colors Star - Solstice Stars series

The two blocks above are part of Randi's Solstice Stars series on Fresh Lemons.

Stargazing
This block, Stargazing, is from the new book Modern Blocks. I had checked it out from my guild's library, and have fallen in love with this book. I've already ordered my own copy from Amazon. I did the Stargazing block for Jeri in my Sew Bee Wonky Flickr group.

Sands of Time block
Sands of Time is the January block of the month in the Bloggers' BOM series. This one was designed by Quiltdad John.

Modern Monday Block 19 - Star

February challenge blocks - Sylvia's Bridal Sampler
In the Sylvia's Bridal Sampler Yahoo Group, which I just joined (yes, I'm a joiner!), we're given challenges to do each month. Then there's a drawing among those who do the challenge. This month we were to do any 4 blocks in Row F.  I did:  Top Left: New York Beauty (F5), Top Right: Album 2 (F6), Bottom Left: Ladies' Aid Album (F8), and Bottom Right: Aunt Sukey's Choice (F10).

My last accomplishment this weekend was to complete a top for a medallion quilt that MIGHT be part of a soon-to-be published book. I'll give a lot more information about this later, including the name of it, the person writing the book, and more. But for now I'll just show the picture:

These are the latest blocks I've received in Boomerang 6.0.  There's still one more to come.

Boomerang 6.0 blocks received - Set 3

As this round of Boomerang winds down, I'm trying to get organized and make sure I have everyone's blocks documented - photographed and posted on the blog. This is proving to be a bit frustrating - I have always prided myself on my organizational skills, but I have made quite a few mistakes this time (forgetting to take photographs, forgetting to write down blocks received, etc.)  In addition, I'd sent out 3 different fabrics - the black dots to nearly everyone, the blue from Boomerang 5.0 to two people, and some dark brown to 3 others. I then promptly forgot that I had done so, and so I thought I was missing some blocks. In actuality, they'd been stored with their appropriate stack of blocks.

So now I need to upload the next-to-last group.  The last group, hopefully, will be those last gals who put it off until the last minute - and according to my records, there are 5 of them.

"Waltzing Matilda" from Joan B

"Star of the West" from Misty C

from Lindsay M

3D bowtie from Mary C

from Mikayla A

from Sue G

from Marcia S

from Kathy N

from Sue S

from Donna M

from Lisa L
I still have two that came this round that were made with the turquoise fabric from last round - but I'll have to go through all the charts and the blocks and find them.

Boomerang 6.0 blocks received - Set 1

I'm really impressed with the blocks coming back.  I deliberately chose a multi-colored fabric, and so far everyone has done a great job with the coordinating colors.

from Donna S - love that orange!

from Judy Bo - I love all the wonky strips!

from Judy Br - isn't that a wild yellow print?!

from Lisa T - definitely a unique block. It's called a Snowball 9-patch

from Peggy R - love that red spiral!

from Florence M - I love this star in a star!

from Kristin G - the pink is even more vibrant in person!

from Jennifer B - lovely bright blue

from Kathy S - that "pink" is really a red

from Donna B - and while it looks blue, it's really purple!
